(1) EVERYTHING
everything 与 everyone 相同，是个複合单词，表示“每件事情”，并与单数动词连用。 如：
Everything is ready now for the party （宴会的凖备工作现已就绪）。
此外，everything 还可作“最重要的事物”，通常用于动词之后。
如：
Money is everything to him （金钱对他比甚么都重要）。


(2) EVERY THING
every thing 则是俩个单字行成的名词片语，用来指各别的每一件事物。
如：
He had to sell every thing he had to pay up （他必须将他所有的每一件东西卖掉以还清欠款）。
Let me tell you every thing I know （让我告诉你我知道的每一件事）。


例子 ：

这 商店从牙刷到收音机，各种东西都有卖。
误 ：The shop sells every thing，from toothbrushes to radios.
正 ：The shop sells everything，from toothbrushes to radios.


一切都按照我们的计划进行。
误 ：Every thing went according to our plan。
正 ：Everything went according to our plan。


食物，水，衣服 – 他所摸到的每一件东西都变成金子。
误 ：Food，water，clothes - everything he touched turned to gold。
正 ：Food，water，clothes – every thing he touched turned to gold。


所有的东西都像是新的，但事实上我买的每样东西都是二手货 。
误 ：Every thing looked new but everything I bought turned out to be second hand。
正 ：Everything looked new but every thing I bought turned out to be second hand。

(1) AFFECT
affect 是动词，意思是影响，并有该影响的强度足以引起反应效果的含义。 如：Smoking affects health （抽烟影响健康）。

(2) EFFECT
effect 当“影响”之意时，是作名词用。 如：the effects of an illness （生病的影响）。另外，effect 也可用做动词，意思是“实现”或“完成”。 如：to effect one‘s purpose （达到目的）。


例子 ：


这是一本有关电脑及电脑对人类生活影响的杂志。
误 ：It’s a magazine about computers and their affects on human lives.
正 ：It’s a magazine about computers and their effects on human lives.


我想长时间生病会影响我通过考试的机会。
误 ：I thought that the long illness would effect my chance of passing the exam.
正 ：I thought that the long illness would affect my chance of passing the exam.


新总裁完成数项改革。
误 ：The new president affected several major changes.
正 ：The new president effected several major changes.


寒冷的天气影响每个人的工作。
正 ：The cold weather affected everybody’s work.
正 ：The cold weather had an effect on everybody’s work.
